On-Site application restore/functional recovery

Process Flow

  • Customer to select the servers for restores testing
  • Storsol builds test servers for restore requirements
  • Storsol restores the backups onto test servers and turn over to client
  • Client performs the functional and application level testing
  • Post validation customer sign off on the restore/recovery test

This is performed on a monthly basis on selected servers of customer's choice. This builds confidence to customer on the backup solution in place and the recoverability posture.


Tape based Disaster Recovery Drill

Process Flow

  • Customer declares the disaster date
  • Storsol consolidates the tape list required for disaster recovery drill
  • Storsol notifies the third party vault vendor to ship the required tapes to the destination site (Disaster testing site)
  • Disaster recovery test starts on the declaration date
  • Servers are turned over to the client as per agreed RPO and RTO
  • Client performs the functional/application testing
  • Post successful testing, Client declares the closure of the disaster recovery test
  • Storsol conducts the post DR analysis to continually improve the DR services

This is performed once in 6 months. This articulates the Storsol’s capability to build the entire client IT environment in a DR site as per agreed RPO and RTO and bring back the client’s business within agreed time lines.

Tape-Less Disaster Recovery Drill (VTL based Replication)

Process Flow

  • Storsol works with Customer to select the critical applications to configure the data replication
  • Storsol configures data replication from production site to disaster recovery (DR) site for the selected applications
  • Storsol configures flashcopy to copy data from DR volumes to space efficient thin provision volumes
  • Customer declares the disaster recovery date
  • Storsol enables flashcopy script to copy data from DR volumes to space efficient thin provision volumes
  • Thin Provision volumes will be assigned to DR site servers
  • Servers are turned over to the client as per agreed RPO and RTO
  • Client performs the functional/application testing
  • Post testing, Client declares the status of the disaster recovery
  • Storsol conducts the post DR analysis to continually improve the DR services

This DR activity is performed once in 6 months. This articulates the Storsol’s capability to build the entire client IT environment in a DR site as per agreed RPO and RTO and bring back the client’s business within agreed time lines.
